This collection will provide soundscape recordings ready to use for teachers in their classes.
You can listen directly online or download each sound with its fiche and image by clicking on the download button. Once downloaded, open the compressed file or right-click to extract its content.
At the park
Sandpit
Different You can hear a bucket being filled with sand and then the bucket is tapped on the bottom as it is turned over to reveal a sandcastle. There is some quiet background noise from other people playing in the park nearby.
Slide
You can hear a child going down a slide and ending in gravel as they walk away. At first you hear a pair of shoes hitting the sides of the slide as the child sits down. There is some quiet background noise from other people playing in the park. The recording finishes with the child walking through gravel that is at the foot of the slide.
Swing
You can hear a swing being pushed and the repetitive sound of the rope rubbing on the swing frame as the child is pushed forward and back. There is some quiet background noise from other people playing in the park. The recording finishes with a happy shout from a child.
Trampoline
You can hear a child jumping on an in-ground trampoline. The child breathes heavily towards the end of the recording. There is some quiet background noise from other people playing in the park and a baby cry. The recording finishes with the child breathing heavily as they finish their exercise.

Disc cutter
Someone is working with a disc cutter and there are voices screaming over the sound.
Jackhammer
You can hear the sound of a jackhammer. There is the familiar sound of the loose tool being touched to the surface before the jackhammer starts.
Scissor lift
The lift is rolling, and there is an alarm warning about that. We can hear that the lift rolled next to us and left.
Transport
Bus Stop – Rural location
You can hear a bus slowing down, the squeak of its brakes as it approaches the bus stop. It sits idle for a few seconds before driving away. You can hear birds in the background and a child makes a sound once the bus has gone.
Car starting
You can hear a key being turned and a tone telling us the ignition has been turned on. You then hear the car start and jingle of the keys.
Motorbike accelerating
You can hear motorbike accelerating as it drives past. There is a gentle ‘thud’ ‘thud’ ‘thud’ as a person jumps on a trampoline.
Tractor
The tractor is on, and it sometimes accelerates.
